Life With Us

Hunters Lodge Residential Care Home is located in the quiet picturesque village of Old Dalby in Melton Mowbray, surrounded by wonderful farmland.  The home, was originally converted from stables in 1983 whilst continuously being updated throughout it time, therefore leaving the home with an inviting sense of old and new that has to be experienced in person to be appreciated.

All the bedrooms are spacious and well equipped and have been designed to make sure the residents feel at home. Residents are encouraged to choose their own décor for their room to help them feel at home and to bring their personal items with them to promote an atmosphere of familiarity, individuality and most importantly to help them feel at home.

At Hunters Lodge we are committed to ensuring that all our residents are treated with the upmost care and dignity. Whilst providing residents with activities and new experiences to be able to live a happy and contented lives full of wonderful experiences and memories.

We achieve this with our dedicated caring staff who take care of our residents like they were members of their own families. This is provided by finding staff who have a genuine compassion towards care and ensuring high levels of continuous training. We aim to achieve and maintain a team of care staff, at least 50% of whom are qualified to NVQ or QCF Diploma Level 2 as a minimum. Our care staff are supported by a large team of maintenance, housekeeping and catering staff, who are also trained and able to communicate and work with residents effectively and empathetically.

Types of Care Provided

No matter what your reason or level of care required is at Hunters Lodge we ensure that all care is individual and based on the residents own needs. This is done by getting to know all of our residents prior to their arrival to help create bespoke care plans catered to each individual.

We create these by talking to the resident and their families or loved ones to find out their likes and dislikes, daily rituals and medical history and the care they would require. Additionally, talking to family doctors, hospitals to help gauge a more detailed view of the needs of the resident.

We also know that the needs of a resident can change over time that’s why we constantly monitor and review these with the respective parties.

Dementia Care

We take pride in being known for providing high levels of Dementia Care in the area. All our Staff undergo additional in-house training to ensure they are familiar with Dementia and how no individuals case is the same. Therefore, our residents are in a safe environment where they are understood. Hunters Lodge has developed a state of the art Sensory Garden, and Sensory Room to help combat the difficulties those with Dementia face.

Alongside this our Activities team are continuously researching and implementing new activities designed to help those with different levels of Dementia.

Residential Care

We hope to access the needs of every individual prior to their move to Hunters Lodge. This is to cater to each individual’s specific needs of coming into care, we also understand that residents don’t just come for care. There is the general feel of is it a home away from home, will there be other residents they can make friends with, activities that will keep residents enthused and providing the rest and reassurance to families and loved ones that the person they know is being cared for in a safe environment.

Respite Care

There are many situations for this type of care from residents needing additional supervision following hospital treatment, Carers going away on holiday or for residents to gage a feel for the home. Whatever the reason is and however long the stay we ensure that throughout residents are cared for in the highest manor and make their visit as comfortable and welcoming as possible.

Day Care

We provide day care services to residents who may not require full time care as it provides families peace of mind that their loved ones are in safe hands when they are not around. Residents whilst at day care are free to use all the facilities of the home whether that be to visit the hairdresser or use the cinema room. Day care residents are free to join in on all the activities including days out and have a chance to interact with other people and make friends.

It has also been a good route for residents to feel comfortable at the home and to know other residents/staff prior to becoming a full-time resident.

End of Life Care

At Hunters Lodge we believe that it is a home away from home as such most of our residents are with us to the very end. When the time comes we aim to have provided residents and families with choices to help them be better informed.

We are proud to have won the highest award of Platinum status, to recognise our end of life care by the Golf Standards Framework (GSF), whose mission statement is:
